Following the most extreme geomagnetic storm in two decades, in an extremely rare occurrence, the northern lights were visible across the UK. Living just minutes away from Thorpe Park, as soon as I heard that this phenomenon was taking place, my mind instantly jumped to Hyperia. I pulled up Google Earth to see which angle of the park would offer the best backdrop for the lights and set off for Monks Walk in the dead of night. Equipped with a flashlight, my wellies, a camera, and a tripod, I battled through the mud and overgrown bushes and was eventually met by one of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen. I set my camera up in disbelief and snapped one of my favourite photos that I have ever taken. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime shot.
